Nami Island/Petite France/Light Festival

WPS2017_Nami

Nami Island is one of the must go destinations in Korea.
Located in the Gapyeong area, you can not only visit Nami Island, but you can also visit many more attractions in this area.

During this tour, you can also experience:

Petite France
From its outward appearance, it would appear to be a village that belongs on the Mediterranean coast or in a pastoral area of the Piedmont Alps. This is Petite France, a French cultural village set in the Korean countryside. Petite France serves as both a French cultural village and a youth training facility (Goseong Youth Training Center), and consists of 16 French-style buildings where visitors can lodge and experience French food, clothing, and household culture.

The concept of Petite France encapsulates “flowers, stars, and the Little Prince”. The village contains a memorial hall dedicated to Saint-Exupery, the author of the celebrated French novel, Le Petit Prince (1943) and as such it is called the Little Prince theme park. It also has a gallery displaying sculptures and paintings of le coq gaulois (the Gallic rooster), the national symbol of France; Orgel House where a 200-year-old music box plays a sweet melody; a shop that sells herbal and aromatic products; a souvenir shop; and many other locales where you can experience French culture. The village can accommodate up to 200 visitors with 34 guest rooms that hold four to ten people each. Enjoy the marionette experience and hear percussion instruments from around the world, and also enjoy soap bubble experience.

Light Festival at Morning Calm Garden
Held at the Garden of Morning Calm, the Lighting Festival is the biggest festival of lights in Korea, covering 100 thousand pyeong illuminated by 30,000 lights. The gleaming lights add a festive glow to the garden during the winter season. The main gardens are Hakyung Garden, Hometown House Garden, Bonsai Garden, Moonlight Garden, Sky Path and Garden of Eden, with colorful lights adorning the trees. In the event of inclement weather, lights may be turned off for safety.
Rail bike
The railbike tour departing from Gapyeong Rail Park passes through Gapyeongcheon Stream Iron Bridge, Bukhanggang Iron Bridge and Zelkova Tree Tunnel before turning back to Gapyeong Rail Park. This route is featured in the Korean film “The Letter (1997),” and thus loved by both couples and photographers looking to capture some beautiful scenes along the old railroad track. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful river view while getting some light exercise with loved ones.

Soraksan

Seoraksan Mountain is an absolute must-go site loved by many locals and tourists alike. In the spring, you can admire the colorful flowers and, during the summer, enjoy the lush green forests. Autumn boasts stunning reddish foliage. The snow-capped mountain scenery in the winter is something you dont want to miss.

You can take a trail at the outer Seoraksan National Park (OeSeorak), which is known for popular trekking routes and a cable car. Most of the trails on the trekking route have a cable car, and most of the trails on this course are of an intermediate level. If you choose to go by cable car, you will still be able to enjoy a nice walk after the ride. Walk through the trail full of local restaurants and drop by Sinheungsa Temple.
